This photo, whilst being good, just missed out on being great. When reviewing through the shots I could see, out of focus, the bird had spotted a fly on his way out and had taken an extreme aerial acrobatic manoeuvre to try and grab it. All fuzzy I could see him with his beak wide open making a grab for some beetle in flight. Sadly by the time he was in the “in focus” zone he was getting back to normal flight having missed the bug. Still, I’m quite happy with the result.

All the photos are great, but the swallow ones are stunning. The colours and shine on the feathers are unexpected and really beautiful and are enhanced by the black background, which is presumably added digitally afterwards.
